Issue Four: DAYS GONE BY.

This issue is an interlude tale and serves as a breather from the main storyline. However, it provides relevant background material.

We see a large group of men and women in formal attire attending a party.

Panel Three:

We see three men sitting at a table with a woman sitting between them.

The woman is named Maggie Malone. She is sitting between Chow So Phat and two of his henchman.

Chow: It is too late for you, woman. When I sell our little trinket to the Japanese, all the world will be sitting underneath the Setting sun.

Maggie: You’re betraying, your own country. Stand up to the Japs and fight like a man.

Chow: We have already lost. Now it is about position in the new world order.

Panel One: A man whispers in Chow’s ear.

Man: He is hear.

Panel two: Close up of Chow. He is smug.

Chow: It is my turn to watch him cower.

Panel Three: Close up of Maggie.

Maggie: Dr Impossible over hear!

Panel Four: We see the crowd part and Dr. Impossible is in a tux in the middle.

DOC: ALL I WANT IS THE GIRL. I’ll SPARE you and your men if you give up now.

Panel Five: We see everyone at the table and DOC I off to the side talking to them.

CHOW: You have no bargaining power, Impossible. I have the girl and the sphere.

Impossible: You have five seconds.

CHOW: I think I will make her my wife.

Maggie: Not happening, ever!

Panel one:We see Maggie by the Doc’s side. His hand is on her shoulder. Kid Commando is standing near by.

Maggie: What took you long?

Doc I: You shouldn’t have been here in the first place.

Kid Commando: Hey doc, we best be gettin.’

Panel Two: Chow has regrouped. He has several of his associates with him. They are holding guns.

Chow: You may have the sphere. But I am still a big man.

Panel Three: The associates fire their weapons.

Page seven:

Panel one: Doc I positions himself in front of Maggie and the Kid. The bullets deflect off his chest.

Panel Two: Doc I tells Maggie and the Kid to get a head start. He is starting to pick up a table.

Doc: Get to the rendezvous point. I’ll hold them off.

Panel Three: Doc I swings the table and hits Chow and some of the thugs.

DOC I: You’re done Chow. Your Japanese Masters won’t approve of your failure.

Page eight.

Panel one: The kid and Maggie are standing by a window. Doc I is running towards them.

KID: Boy, Doc. You’re starting to run really fast, now.

DOC: Yeah, all my powers seem to be getting stronger.

Maggie; Hey boys, those guys are starting to close in.

Panel Three: A front view of the three. Doc I’s hands are on each of their respective shoulders.

Doc I: Don’t worry. I’ve got us covered.

Panel Three: The camera is behind the three of them as Doc jumps out the window holding on to them.

KID: Boy Doc. One of these days you might even fly.

Maggie: I’m just glad I’m no longer Chow’s prisoner. You saved me Doc.

They are driving away in the car. The KID is driving.

KID: Hey, what about me?

MAGGIE: I could have been killed while I was keeping your cover. And what took you so long to switch the sphere’s……

Doc I: Women, kid. There’s no pleasing them.

Caption One: Some months later.

Panel two: We see a shot of a university building.

Panel Three:

We see two men walk past a door.

Man 1. I’m telling you Albert, your theory is wrong…..

There is a sign on the door that reads: Professor Impossible.

We see inside the classroom. DOC is at the podium finishing a lecture.

DOC I: That will be it for today. Be prepared to discuss Caesar’s conquest of Gaul next time.

Panel one: We see an assistant dean walk in the room with another man who is a government agent.

Dean: Doctor. This is Mr. Haber. He works for the state department. He wanted to talk to you.

Doctor: My pleasure. How are you Mr. Haber?

Panel two. Close up on Haber.

Haber: Not so well. Doctor. I, or rather your country requires your assistance.

Panel Three: Back to Doc I

Doc I: How so?

Panel Four. Back to Haber.

Haber: I became aware of recent exploits in Hong Kong from an associate in the military.

Panel Five: Back to the Doc

Doc: That’s supposed to be classified.

Panel Six: Back to Haber.

Haber: Oh, it is. I assure you. I have the highest of clearances. We have a prolem in North Africa. One that needs your attention.

Panel one:

We see the Doctor and Kid Commando riding in a prototype jeep. The Kid is driving.

Caption one: North Africa, 1936.

Doc I: I take it that you’re the military associate Haber was alluding to?

KID: Of course. This is a problem of a mystical, supernatural nature. And I only know one man who has a doctorate in History and Physics and has superpowers.

Panel two: The camera closes in on the Doctor and the Kid.

Doc I: Only one?

KID: Don’t kid me. I’m glad there’s only one superman, and the good old red, white and blue got him.

Panel three: They get out of the jeep.

Kid: We walk the rest of the way.

Doc I: So you really think we’re dealing with the spear of destiny.

Kid : That’s what my intel’ says.

Panel one: They climb up a mountain trail.

Doc I: And just how did you get this Intel’?

Kid: You don’t want to know, Doc. There’s some things you shouldn’t be associated with.

Panel two: They sit behind some rocks.

KID: How’s Maggie doing?

Doc I: She’s not talking to me. The government wouldn’t let her publish her story about Chow Phat and the cosmic sphere. She blames me. And you.

KID: Well, that’s government censors for you. ( Pause) She’ll come around. She always does.

Panel Three:

We see a front view of them as they appear to be peering over rocks. The kid is eating an apple.

DOC I: Well there they are. Are you sure the spear’s here?

KID: Oh yeah, and we can’t afford to let them have it.

One page pinup. We see a shot of a desert valley with a plethora of Nazi vehicles and weapons.

KID: That’s a lot of firepower. They must be ready to move the spear.

DOC I: I see it. It’s in a crate in that transport vehicle.

KID: How can you see that?

Panel one: Doc looks up.

DOC I: We’re not alone. He’s coming.

Panel Two: Two German soldiers. Heidl and Schlitz appear.

Heidl: Look here, Schlitz. We have two Americaners.

Schlitz: Take them alive, Heidl. We must interrogate them before we kill them.

Panel Three: Back to the Kid and DOC.

KID: I’ll follow your lead, doc.

DOC: You do that.

Panel Four:

Impossible punches Schlitz in the gut.

Panel one: The punch has no effect.

Schiltz: Puny American. You are no match for….

Panel two: Schlitz disrobes in a blur and turns into Blitzkrieg.

Blitz: Blitzkrieg. !!!

Panel Three:

He punches both the Kid and the Doc.

Blitz: I am the Nazi super soldier.

Panel Four:

We see the Kid and the Doc fall towards the valley.

KID: You can fly, right?

DOC: It’s more of a leap actually. But we will be okay. There’s only about 200 Nazi’s down there.

KID: Oh, that’s not bad.

Panel one: They hit the ground.

DOC I: You ready?

KID: Oh. Yeah. I been achin to get me some Nazi.

Panel two: several nazi soldiers approach.

NAZI’S: Schnell, Schnell!!!

KID: Take that, Kraut.

Panel Four: Impossible dispatches three Nazi’s

DOC I: Too easy.

Panel Four: A Nazi soldier takes aim at the Doc with a luger.

Nazi: You vill fall before the before the might of the Nazi empire.

Panel Two: We see Blitzkrieg and several soldiers behind him.

KID: Hey, I don’t have superpowers.

DOC I: I’ll help out when I’m done.

Blitz: I vill grind your bones to dust.

Panel Four: He whacks Blizkrieg

Blitzkrieg flies off, high in the sky.

Doc I: Time to get the spear of Destiny.

Panel two: We see his vision reveal the location inside a crate.

Panel Three: Doc I uses superspeed to go to the crate. He flies by several Nazi’s.

Doc I: Time to gather the KID and go.

From off camera we hear the KID say” I’m in trouble”…..

Panel one: We see Haber talking to the Doc and Kid in an office building. The Kid is eating again.

Haber: Well it’s a shame the spear was destroyed.

KID: Sure is, huh Doc.

Doc I: A tragedy.

Panel Two: All three continue to talk

Haber: Doctor, I’d like to make you an offer. There’s a war coming. We’re going to need good people like yourself, but even more important we’re going to need symbols. And you and the Kid are good together. You’ll inspire others.

Doc I: I’m not a government lackey.

KID: I am.

Panel Three: All three continue to talk.

Haber: You won’t be working for the government, Doc. You’ll be working for America.

KID: let’s do it, Doc.

Doc I: Alright. But I only answer to one man. And that’s FDR.

David turns back towards Doc I.

David: Shouldn’t we do something about him. You always said heroes shouldn’t kill.

DR I Still reading the paper.

Dr I: All that can be done is being done.

David: We should get him We haven’t even gone after him.

DR I: You’re not ready for this case.

Panel four:

Dr I stands up.

Dr I: I’m leaving for a mission with the Justice Council.

The answer starts to leave and Splitscreen says:

Splitscreen is sitting on a watchtower.

Caption One: days later.

Caption 2: Doc I had left on another mission. And I went solo again.

We see newspaper articles detailing the deaths of several supervillians. Larva man, Backfire, and the Sanitizer.

Caption One: I had figured out one thing. All of the costumed creeps who had been killed by the Silencer had recently been release from jail on technicalities.

Panel Three:

We see Splitscreen following Bricklayer, a new villain to design.

Caption One: So I followed Bricklayer. The latest villain to beat his rap.

We see Splitscreen follow Bricklayer.

Caption oNe: I kept my distance.

Panel two:

Bricklayer reaches a railyard and we see the Silencer appear.

Caption one: And when we reached the railyard. The Silencer appeared.

The camera is looking at the front of Bricklayer as the Silencer swooshes in from behind him. I envision the Silencer as resembling the old Shadow character. All cape and hat as he moves.

Bricklayer: Oh man!

First Panel:

The silencer is firing both his guns at Bricklayer.

Caption One: He was going to kill him.

Second panel:

Splitscreen swings into the Silencer. Bricklayer is screaming.

Bricklayer has escaped. Silencer is furious with Spliscreen.

Silencer: He’s gone. You don’t know what you’ve done.

Caption one: 5.1 drove me to my dates house. Jenny Hayden. She was cute. Not gorgeous, but ok.

Jenny opens the door

Caption one: I felt bad for her. Her mother had been killed by the Sanitizer after he was released. Her dad was a D.A. who worked all the time.

Jenny and David walk away and we see her father faintly through the front window.

Caption One: She was my friend and I felt bad for her. I knew what she was going through, so I asked her to the dance. Her father usually came to the door though.

Caption One. It was the first time I had seen Jenny smile in weeks.

They walk in the dance.

Doctor Impossible was earth’s greatest hero. For over five decades he and his allies in the JUSTICE COUNCIL protected the world from all manners of harm. Earth entered a new “golden age.” Dr Impossible based his operations in CORRIDOR CITY and this city was the shining light of the new golden era.

Ten years ago, Doctor Impossible met his greatest foe in battle.

He lost.

Doctor Impossible left Earth and has not been heard from since.

Earth entered a new “DARK AGE.”

Corridor City is the dark light of the new era.

This is the story of what was and what will be.

Pages 2 and 3

This is a two page spread. We see several men walking down the middle of the street in Roman gladiator garb. In the middle is a large, fat man in a chariot. He is being pulled by two large vicious dogs. One of the men in his envoy, is David Gordon, formerly known as Splitscreen. He is now a Prefect.

Walking along the sidewalk on page three is an anglo man in his forties named Hudson Street. He is accompanied by a 14 year old African-American boy named Tysan. They are both important characters whose role will be revealed at a later time.

The large man who is apparently the leader of the guards is named Morbus. He is cracking the whip on the dogs and he yells:

Morbus: Onward Dogs of Hell. To the Green Pagoda.

Tysan: Who do you think there after?

Hudson: If it’s the Green Pagoda, it can only be one man.

Tysan: You gonna do something about it.

Hudson: (with hesitation) No. I don’t get involved anymore.

Page four.

This is a three panel page.

Panel one:

The first panel is an establishing shot of the Green Pagoda. This is a run down tavern in what was formerly prominent district of Corridor City.

Panel Two:

The second panel shows Morbus bursting through the doors of the Inn. We see Sensei off to the side, tending bar.

Morbus: Where are you, my little man?

Third panel

Morbus approaches Splitscreen:

Morbus: Splendid. You’ve found something you’re good at.

Page Five.

This is our standard six panel. Two on top, middle and bottom.

Panel One:

Close up of Sensei.

Sensei: What do you want Morbus?

Panel Two:

We see Morbus and Sensei talk.

Morbus: The triumvirate is coming for the rededication. We don’t want any incidents. There have been rumors of capes organizing.

Sensei: I wouldn’t know anything about that. I try and earn a meager living..

Panel Three.

Morbus and Sensei continue to talk.

Morbus: Fealty, Sensei.. We want your allegiance. Your word.

Sensei: I will not give my word .to a man I don’t respect.

Fourth Panel:

Close up of Morbus:

Morbus: You will now. Bow before me, little man.

Fifth Panel:

Morbus and Sensei stand next to each other.

Morbus: I said Bow!

Sensei: I will make no trouble. But I will not bow before my inferior.

Sixth Panel

We see Morbus call David Gordon over.

Morbus: Prefect!

David Gordon: Sir.

Page six.

Another six panel page. Standard cut.

Panel one

We see Morbus, David and Sensei in the panel.

David is looking at Sensei.

Morbus: Do your duty!

Sensei: I will not resist violently.

Panel Two:

Splitscreen forces Sensei to bow down before Morbus.

Morbus: That’s better. Just imagine, once you were a great man.

Panel Three:

Morbus looks at David and hands him a brand.

Morbus: Brand him.

David looks hesitant.

Panel four:

David brands Sensei on the back with the Triumvurate seal.

Panel Five:

Sensei gets up and looks at Morbus.

Morbus: No trouble. You understand.

Panel six:

We see Morbus and David turn and leave.

Morbus: Come along, Prefect. I don’t like the stench in here. Can you believe him, I will not bow to my inferior. Ha, ha, ha, ha.

Pafe seven.

Five panel page. One panel on top. Two each across the middle and bottom.

Panel One.

This is an establishing shot of an apartment complex. We see Hudson Street looking out a window. We see David Gordon walking below him on the sidewalk.

We hear Tysan’ voice from inside the apartment.

Tysan: Grub’s ready, man. You comin’.

Hudson: I’m comin’.

Panel Two:

Interior of the apartment. Hudson and Tysan are sitting on the couch. There is a picture on the end table by the couch.

Tysan: Hey, that picture. It wasn’t there before.

Panel Three:

Tysan looks closer at the picture.

Tysan: (Surprised) Is that you in the cop uniform.

Hudson: Yeah. Hard to believe I was a flatfoot, huh.

Panel Four:

Tysan is holding the picture shaking his head.

Tysan: You were a cop. You hate cops.

Panel five:

Close up of Hudson.

Hudson: That’s because I know em’.

Page eight.

Six panel page.

Panel One:

Tysan is getting his stuff together to leave.

Tysan: Thanks for the grub. I gotta be getting home or mom’s gonna be pissed. I’m not even supposed to be hanging with you.

Panel Two:

Close up of Hudson. He’s holding the picture now.

Hudson: You get then. And do your homework.

Panel Three:

Tysan is walking out the door.

Tysan: My game’s on Saturday. You gonna be there.

Hudson: I’ll be in the crowd.

Panel four:

Hudson looks at the picture.

Panel Five.

Hudson sits in his chair and starts to look at a scrapbook.

Panel six

We see a closeup of a newspaper article in the scrapbook.

The headline reads “ TANGO AND THE ANSWER BUST DRUG RING”

We see a small picture of Tango and the Answer on the paper.

Page Nine.

Six panel page.

One long panel on the top and bottom and with two each in the middle portion of the page.

Panel one:

We get an establishing shot of David Gordon’s apartment building.

Panel Two.

David is taking off Prefect armor.

Caption One: Hard to believe it’s come to this.

Panel Three:

He’s in his long underwear now, holding the armor.

Caption One: I hate this armor. You can’t move in it.

Panel Four:

David is staring to put on his Splitscreen costume.

Caption One: Thank God, I never incorporated armor in my costume.

Panel Five:

The costume is fully on now.

Caption one: If Morbus knew I was still moonlighting as Splitscreen, he’d have me killed on the spot.

Panel Six. Splitscreen leaves out the window.

Panel One:

We see Splitscreen swinging through the streets.

Caption One: This feels great. I remember when I started.

Panel Two: This begins flashback. We might want to go with a granier look to indicate the flashback. It would actually be cool to spring for color for the flashbacks which would be an inversion of the typical technique.

We see David as a ten year old boy. He is crying. His dead parents are on the ground behind him.

Caption One: My parents had been murdered.

Panel Three.

We see David being walked out by a detective who just happens to be Hudson Street.

Caption one: They were sending me to the orphanage when….

Panel Four:

We see Dr. I swoop down.

Caption One: Dr Impossible arrived.

Panel Five:

Dr I puts his hand on David’s Shoulder.

Caption One: He said that he knew my parents and that he was my godfather. He asked me to go with him.

Panel six:

We see Dr I talking to David as David cowers in a chair with a blanket on him.

Caption One: He asked if I believed in Justice. Told me I must choose that path and not seek revenge for what had transpired.

I can essentially make myself invisible to people’s senses. For a brief period.

The thugs are beating up a man.

Caption one: The triumvirate doesn’t care about the crime on the streets. As long as they get a cut.

Panel four.

Splitscreen jumps between them.

Caption one: This is too easy.

Panel five.

Splistcreen punches them both.

Caption one: I’ve been training since I was ten.

Splitscreen climbs over the edge of roof. Winter is watching.

Splitscreen: Who are you?

Winter: A friend. If your interested. Try and keep up.

Panel five:

Winter dives off the building.

Winter: See ya!

Splitscreen: Hey, wait up. I didn’t get your number..

We see them waliking in a sewer.

Splitscreen: I’m telling you babe there are other places.

Winter knocks on a door.

Winter: Quiet!

A slit on the door opens and we hear a deep voice.

Voice: Password!

Winter: The Green dragon rises in the August moon.

They walk through and are greeted by a talking ape named Solovar.

Solovar: Good to see you, Winter.

Winter: Your looking strong Solovar. Been workin out?

Solovar: A little.
